Two more murder arrests after boy, 14, shot dead
A 14-year-old boy was fatally shot in Woolwich, south-east London, prompting the arrest of two additional suspects on murder charges. The incident occurred on Lord Warwick Street around 15:40 BST on Thursday, with Eghosa Ogbebor losing his life at the scene. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that a 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man were detained on Saturday, while a 46-year-old man was also taken into custody for allegedly aiding the perpetrator.
Earlier that week, three individuals—two teenagers aged 14 and 16, and an 18-year-old man—were arrested on Friday but later released on bail. Det Ch Insp Lucie Card, leading the investigation, highlighted the ongoing efforts to uncover the circumstances surrounding Eghosa’s death. “Our detectives are actively pursuing leads to determine the cause of this tragic event,” she stated.
“Residents in Woolwich might have observed heightened police activity last night as officers secured three additional arrests linked to the case,” Card added. “We recognize the community’s worry and anticipate continued surveillance in the area to ensure all possibilities are explored.” She encouraged anyone with relevant information or sightings of unusual behavior to reach out to the police.
The incident has drawn attention to the local area, with authorities emphasizing the need for public cooperation in solving the case. BBC Radio London and BBC London’s social media platforms remain key channels for updates and community engagement.
