Arrested suspect avoids criminal action after investigation
Hertfordshire Police confirmed on Tuesday that a prominent figure from the BBC dance competition will not be charged with rape. The individual, whose identity has not been disclosed, was taken into custody in October 2025 but released on bail following an investigation. Detectives concluded there was “insufficient evidence” to pursue formal charges, after consulting with the Crown Prosecution Service.
“There will be no criminal charges brought against an individual arrested by Hertfordshire Constabulary in London on Monday 13 October 2025 on suspicion of rape,” the police statement read. “The man, who had his bail extended until today, Tuesday 7 April 2026, will face no further action.”
The incident, reported by *The Sun*, involved allegations of rape occurring after a BBC event. The woman in question was not a contestant or professional dancer on the show but had met the suspect through his involvement in the competition. This case is separate from the most recent series of *Strictly Come Dancing*, which is filmed at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire.
Earlier in the year, another man linked to the popular program was arrested in August 2025 on suspicion of rape and non-consensual intimate image abuse. His role in the show remains unclear. The current development follows his arrest, which occurred two months after the second suspect was detained.
