Two in hospital after bus crashes down embankment on A9

Collision near Granish Junction prompts emergency efforts

A bus plunged into a grassy slope on the A9, approximately two miles west of Aviemore, leaving two passengers hospitalized. Emergency services mobilized swiftly following the incident, which occurred around 9:40 Sunday morning near Granish Junction. Firefighters, ambulances, and police were deployed to manage the scene and assist the injured.

Police Scotland reported that the two individuals received treatment at a medical facility, though specifics regarding their condition were not shared. The vehicle in question, an electric bus traveling from Inverness to Edinburgh, is operated by the company Ember. It sustained damage during the accident, which was described as a single-vehicle collision.

“We extend our gratitude to the emergency teams for their rapid response and ongoing support. Our team is cooperating fully with the police as they investigate the incident,” said a representative from Ember.

The A9 was temporarily closed for about two hours to allow for the cleanup and investigation. Visuals from the site revealed the bus partially lodged on the embankment, with several responders working to stabilize the situation. The road has since reopened, though traffic conditions remain under review.
