Razzie Awards 2026: Anti-Oscars name ‘War Of The Worlds’ as Worst Picture

Razzie Awards 2026: ‘War Of The Worlds’ Crowned Worst Picture

In line with its longstanding tradition, the Golden Raspberry Awards—often dubbed the anti-Oscars—preceded the annual Academy ceremony by unveiling the cinematic misfires of the year. This year’s 46th edition delivered a clear verdict, with Ice Cube’s sci-fi film War Of The Worlds emerging as the most critically panned offering. The movie, an Amazon-backed reimagining of H.G. Wells’ 1898 classic, faced widespread backlash for its clumsy execution and over-the-top spectacle.

Awards Dominated by the Adaptation

War Of The Worlds swept the board at the parody event, securing five Razzie accolades. These included Worst Picture, Worst Director (Rich Lee), Worst Actor (Ice Cube), Worst Screenplay (Kenny Golde and Marc Hyman), and Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel. The film’s technical flaws and narrative gaps left no category untouched, cementing its status as the year’s most egregious cinematic failure.

“A laughably naff adaptation… a cinematic crime against humanity,”

one critic aptly described the film, highlighting its inability to meet even basic storytelling expectations. While the Razzies recognized only four other films this year, their contributions were notable. Disney’s Snow White remake landed two awards: Worst Supporting Actor and Worst Screen Combo, both attributed to its CGI dwarfs. Rebel Wilson’s Bride Hard earned her Worst Actress for its over-the-top action-comedy blend. Scarlet Rose Stallone, daughter of Sylvester Stallone, took Worst Supporting Actress for Gunslingers.

Redeemer Award Recognizes Resilience

Among the honorees, Kate Hudson received the Redeemer Award for her Oscar-nominated role in Song Sung Blue. Despite past Razzie nods for films like My Best Friend’s Girl (2008), Mother’s Day (2016), and Music (2021), Hudson’s latest performance showcased a renewed commitment to quality.
