EastEnders legend makes very unexpected return after 8 years
Monday’s episode of EastEnders, now streaming on BBC iPlayer, delivered a surprise that left viewers buzzing. The long-awaited reappearance of a key character has generated fresh excitement, especially among fans who’ve been eagerly anticipating their return.
As the Square celebrated Mother’s Day, Peter Beale (played by Thomas Law) surprised his wife, Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa), with a gesture that promised more than just a heartfelt celebration. The event turned into a whirlwind of drama when Cora Cross (Ann Mitchell) unexpectedly arrived, leaving her granddaughter both delighted and stunned.
Though Cora was last spotted in Walford in 2018, her return has been a highlight on fans’ wishlists for over a year. Her presence at the family gathering in 45 Albert Square kicked off a series of conflicts, with her sharp tongue stirring up tension at the dinner table. Max Branning (Jake Wood) found himself on the defensive, but Cora wasn’t one to back down, confronting him with unwavering confidence.
Lauren, still recovering from an attack orchestrated by Mark Fowler Jr (Stephen Aaron-Sipple), agreed to take his business proposal seriously after Cora’s encouraging words. However, Mark’s smug demeanor in the following scene suggests he may be plotting something more sinister. Will Lauren regret this decision?
Cora departed shortly after the festivities, but not before reconnecting with her grandson Oscar (Pierre Counihan-Moullier). The emotional reunion brought back memories for Ian (Adam Woodyatt), who recalled his late grandmother Lou (Anna Wing) during the moment.
