EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: Diana dress designer’s companies both go bust

EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: Diana’s Wedding Gown Designer’s Businesses Collapse

Years after Lady Diana Spencer exchanged vows with Prince Charles at St Paul’s Cathedral, the ivory silk taffeta and lace wedding dress David Emanuel crafted with his wife Elizabeth still captivated global audiences. An estimated 750 million viewers tuned in to witness the iconic 25ft train as it swept across the aisle in 1981.

A Tale of Financial Setbacks

Despite the gown’s enduring legacy, it did not guarantee David Emanuel lasting success. Recent filings reveal that both of his ventures have collapsed, leaving a combined debt of nearly £300,000. Licensed to Design, established in 2002, now owes £280,000, while Renaissance Man, launched in 2018, faces additional liabilities.

In a Statement of Affairs submitted to liquidators, the Welsh designer, 73, disclosed assets totaling £164,000 as “uncertain to realise.” His liabilities include £72,000 in corporation tax debt to HMRC, £103,000 to NatWest Bank, and £33,000 to Ovo Energy. Directors’ loans and fixtures valued at £60,000 and £96,000 respectively are also listed as unsecured.

“Everything is now looking up for Ewan. He’ll be back to sport and playing the piano and that’s all because of the NHS,”

— said Erin Boag, a Strictly Come Dancing star, following her son’s near-disaster. The 11-year-old was hospitalized after his finger was sliced off during a playdate, prompting a dramatic operation to save it.

Earlier this year, David Emanuel lost a High Court case against his ex-wife Elizabeth, claiming she violated their joint copyright by selling designs without his permission. His spokesperson remained unavailable for further comment.

From Miscarriage to New Beginnings

Grace Beverley, 29, shared her emotional journey on Instagram as she prepared for her first pregnancy with husband Amar Daved. After a miscarriage last autumn left her “heartbroken,” the entrepreneur, founder of Tala and Shreddy, now expresses joy at the prospect of a new child.

“Both of us are more stressed than excited because we lost our last pregnancy,” she admitted, reflecting on the tension of parenthood. The Oxford graduate, who married Daved in a lavish three-day ceremony in France, described the blend of hope and worry.

A Medieval Celebration

Tali Lennox, 33, chose a striking Medieval-inspired look for her birthday, complete with a brown pagan-style dress, a gothic circlet, and a vintage pendant. Her father, film producer Uri Fruchtmann, praised her bold aesthetic, which aligns with her reputation for eclectic fashion choices.

Meanwhile, Paloma Faith urged metropolitan Lefties to reconsider their support for Nigel Farage’s Reform UK. “I do think that the liberal Left, which I am sort of part of, have this habit of dismissing people who don’t agree with them,” she argued, suggesting unity over division is key to political progress.
