Euphoria stars hit red carpet at premiere of third – and possibly final – season
Euphoria stars gather on red carpet for season three premiere
Four years after the conclusion of the previous season, the cast of the acclaimed TV series Euphoria reunited for the debut of its third installment. The event, held in Los Angeles on Tuesday, marked a significant moment as the show’s lead actors—Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, and Jacob Elordi—returned to their roles. This season, which may signal the end of the series, brings renewed drama and personal stakes for each character.
Zendaya’s return and evolving storyline
Zendaya, now 29, has expanded her career beyond Euphoria, starring in blockbuster films like *Dune* and the *Spider-Man* series, as well as indie projects such as *Challengers* and *The Drama*. In the new season, she reprises her role as Rue, who faces new challenges involving a drug dealer. When asked about the show’s future, Zendaya shared with Drew Barrymore’s program:
“I think so, yeah.”
Sweeney and Elordi’s ongoing projects
Sydney Sweeney, who portrays Cassie, continues to build her profile with roles in *Anyone but You*, *The Housemaid*, and *Christy*. Her character now navigates the complexities of adult content creation. Jacob Elordi, playing Cassie’s husband Nate, received an Oscar nomination for his role in Guillermo del Toro’s *Frankenstein*. He also starred in *Wuthering Heights* and was nominated for *The Narrow Road to the Deep North*.
New cast additions and creative direction
The third season features fresh faces, including Natasha Lyonne, known for her roles in *Poker Face* and *Russian Doll*. Lyonne joined showrunner Sam Levinson on the red carpet, hinting at her involvement in the series. Levinson, reflecting on the show’s trajectory, told the *New York Times*:
“If inspiration strikes and I have an idea, then I’ll talk to HBO. If it makes sense, it makes sense.”
He emphasized the team’s focus on delivering a strong season, noting the extensive effort across all departments.
Honoring the past and new character dynamics
Levinson also highlighted the inclusion of Angus Cloud’s legacy, dedicating the season to the late actor who passed away in 2023 at age 25. Additional cast members present included Hunter Schafer, who plays Jules and interacts with Rue, and Anna Van Patten, joining for her first season as a new character. Chloe Cherry and Alexa Demie return as Faye and Maddy, respectively, adding depth to the narrative.
