Savannah Guthrie returns to NBC’s Today show, as search for mother goes on

Savannah Guthrie has resumed her role on NBC’s Today show, marking her first studio appearance since January 30. This comes as the search for her missing 84-year-old mother, Nancy, continues. The disappearance was reported two days prior, on January 30, when Nancy was last seen at her home near Tucson, Arizona.

Last month, Guthrie expressed her commitment to work, stating it was “part of my purpose right now” to return. However, she remained uncertain about her ability to continue. Investigators suspect Nancy was abducted against her will, though no clear motive or suspect has been identified. The family announced a $1 million reward for information leading to her recovery in February.

Easter Message and Faith

On Easter Sunday, Guthrie shared a message from Good Shepherd New York, reaffirming her Christian beliefs. “I still believe. And so I say with conviction, ‘Happy Easter,'” she declared in her closing remarks following the service.

Guthrie had temporarily paused her duties as an anchor, including stepping away from NBC’s coverage of the Winter Olympics, after Nancy went missing. In a recent interview, she emphasized her connection to her family, saying, “I can’t not come back. This is my family.”

Nancy vanished without her medications. She was dropped off at her residence by relatives on the evening of January 31, but failed to appear at a friend’s house the next morning to join a virtual Sunday service. The search for her remains active, with no arrests made yet.
