FBI director Kash Patel hacked by pro-Iranian group as personal photos appear online

FBI Director Kash Patel’s Account Hacked by Pro-Iranian Group

A pro-Iranian hacking collective claims they have breached the account of FBI Director Kash Patel, revealing personal photos and documents on the internet. The released files include outdated images of Patel, along with a professional resume and various private records, many of which date back over a decade.

“Kash Patel, the current head of the FBI, who once saw his name displayed with pride on the agency’s headquarters, will now find his name among the list of successfully hacked victims,” stated the group Handala in a message posted on Friday.

The FBI responded, confirming awareness of malicious actors targeting Patel’s personal email data. They emphasized that measures have been taken to address the threat, though the compromised information is historical and does not involve classified government material.

A DOJ official informed Reuters that the material appeared authentic, adding credibility to the breach. Among the shared images was a photo of Patel near an antique sports car and another showing him with a cigar in hand.

Handala, known for its pro-Iranian and pro-Palestinian stance, also claimed responsibility this month for a cyber attack on Stryker, a Michigan-based medical tech firm. The group asserted the strike was retaliation for U.S. military actions they alleged had killed Iranian schoolchildren.

The Justice Department highlighted Handala as part of its broader investigation into Iranian cyber operations, seizing four web domains linked to the group’s activities last week.
