Four killed in second Turkish school shooting in two days

Four individuals lost their lives in a shooting incident at a school in southern Turkey, according to the local governor. The attack occurred at Ayser Calik Secondary School in the Kahramanmaras region, as reported by regional media outlets. Details about the victims and the attacker’s fate remain unconfirmed, with authorities still investigating the event.

Follow-up to previous school attack

The incident follows a similar attack at another high school in the southern part of the country, where an ex-student opened fire before taking his own life. At least 16 people were wounded in that earlier event, as per official statements. Kahramanmaras Governor Mukerrem Unluer later noted that the latest shooting left 20 injured, some in critical condition.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the motive behind Wednesday’s attack, prompting the initiation of a full investigation. Turkish media sources indicated that the perpetrator brought five firearms and seven ammunition magazines into the school, which were believed to belong to his father.

“The sound of gunfire was very intense,” said a reporter for Turkish broadcaster NTV. “There was panic in front of the school.” The journalist described the chaos at the scene, emphasizing the abruptness of the violence.

Footage from the site captured crowds of people, including individuals recording the event on their mobile phones. Emergency vehicles, such as ambulances, were seen departing swiftly as the situation unfolded. The rapid response highlighted the urgency of the crisis.
